Ask Alexa: I struggle with premature ejaculation

Alexa,

I struggle with premature ejaculation. I have tried a few remedies, but nothing seems to have worked so far. The last time I had sex, I was only able to last for a decent amount of time after already climaxing four times, each lasting under 15 seconds.

Please help,

Hopeful K

Hey there,

First of all, I want to applaud you for opening up about your struggle with premature ejaculation. It's important to remember that you're not alone in facing this issue, as premature ejaculation is a common concern for many individuals. While I'm not a medical professional, I can offer some general insights and suggestions that may help you navigate this situation.

  1. Communication: Talk openly with your partner about what you're experiencing. Communication is key in any sexual relationship, and discussing your concerns can alleviate some of the pressure you might be feeling. Your partner may have valuable insights or suggestions, and together you can explore ways to make the experience enjoyable for both of you.

  2. Foreplay and arousal: Engaging in extended foreplay and focusing on your partner's pleasure can help create a more relaxed and enjoyable sexual experience. By taking the emphasis off penetration and focusing on other forms of stimulation, you can reduce performance anxiety and potentially last longer.

  3. Techniques and exercises: Various techniques and exercises can be helpful in managing premature ejaculation. One popular technique is the "stop-start" method, where you pause sexual activity when you feel close to climax, then resume once the sensation subsides. Another technique is the "squeeze" method, where you or your partner gently applies pressure to the base of the penis to temporarily reduce arousal.

  4. Seeking professional help: If your struggles with premature ejaculation persist and significantly affect your well-being, it may be beneficial to consult with a healthcare professional or a specialist in sexual health. They can provide a thorough evaluation, identify any underlying causes, and suggest tailored treatment options or strategies. If you want to book a 1:1 with me, click here.

Remember, there's no shame in seeking support or exploring different approaches to improve your sexual experiences. Premature ejaculation is a common issue, and with time, patience, and the right strategies, it's often possible to find a solution that works for you. Take care and be kind to yourself throughout this journey of exploration and self-discovery.

Best of luck,

Alexa xx
